The Hampton Inn Southridge would like to welcome our visitors who are following the WV Civil War GeoTrail. The WV Dept of Education and the Arts along with ExploreWV, is celebrating the 150th birthday of our state with the launch of the WV Civil War Geotrail. The Civil War GeoTrail will be the organization's fourth challenge, attracting people from across the country and around the globe to geocache in West Virginia.
The kick-off event for the Civil War GeoTrail is Saturday, August 10, 2013 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Camp Virgil Tate in Sissonville. The event will feature trail registration, family activities, entertainment, a Japanese Auction, and many local artisans and food vendors. A Civil War encampment will also take place. Basic registration is free and open to the public.
All cache coordinates are available online at www.geocaching.com, seach USERNAME: ExploreWV, and at the official WV Civil War Geotrail website, www.civilwargeotrail.wv.gov.
For the Caches, please be thoughtful and take only one stamp for your playbook.
The state has been broken down into 5 zones. each zone will contain 15 geocaches. Geocoins have been created in the shape of each zone, and the first 140 people to complete 8 of the 15 caches in each zone will recieve a coin. To receive your coin for zone 5, the Hampton Inn Southridge is the designated checkpoint.
The Hampton Inn Southridge proudly celebrates our state's 150th birthday this year and wishes all the geocachers good luck in finding your caches.
